Sabra magazine Japan’s best gravure magazine

If you’re a regular reader of Japansugoi, you will know we post a lot of sexy Japanese bikini gravure グラビアアイドル models like  Yukie Kawamura, Sayuki Matsumoto and Kana Tsugihara.  All these models have been featured on Japan’s most popular and established gravure idol magazine Sabra サブラ (like FMH, Loaded, Stuff in western countries)

Sabra was published by Shogakukan as a bi-weekly from June 2000 to October 2007 but since then the magazine became a monthly (coming out on the 25th of every month).  There are also several Sabra web sites

  • “Sabra net generally” – official Web page sabra
  • sablog」 - sabra’s blog
  • 「sabra net strictly」 – pay site
  • 「sabra net easy」「sabra 1day ticket」「sabra net BB」「sabra TV」 -  some premium content sections
  • 「sabra×Gyao」「sabra×zero」 – partnership sites with Gyao and Yahoo Japan

Besides the beautiful Japanese gravure idols, there are articles on sports, fashion, technology, and cars.  There is no nudity in Sabra magazine photo shoots.  The magazine also includes DVDs  as bonus items.

Some of the most famous Japanese models and celebrities that got their big breaks from Sabra are Aki Hoshino, Yuki Ishikawa, Rio Natsume, Yuko Ogura, Mayuko Iwasa, Eriko Sato, Sayuri Anzu, Harumi Nemoto, Yuka Kosaka, Misako Yasuda, Miri Hanai, Azusa Yamamoto, Jun Natsukawa, Ayaka Komatsu, Saori Yamamoto, Sayaka Isoyama, Rina Akiyama, Chikako Sakuragai,Chisato Morishita, Mayumi Ono and Reon Kadena.

Aside from regular publication, Sabra also publishes several one shot collection books (without advertising) in a magazine format focused on a single model or group of models throughout years.

Publisher Shogakukan announced last October that Sabra is being discontinued after the March 2010 issue, which went on sale in January. Get your hands on a collectors item.

That’s kinda sad. Will they still continue the web site?
