Jonas brothers promoted in Japan

Last July 30th, the popular Jonas brothers played the Fuji Rock festival at the Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, Japan to the delight of their fans.

The heartthrob band have a big base of fans including many young Japanese women who are fans of Jpop.

Rika Sato gravure beauty

Rika Sato 佐藤里香 or さとう 里香 is a pretty 23 year Japanese gravure idol and race queen from Kyoto prefecture.  The 160cm tall beauty who loves watching movies and playing the piano has measurements 82 – 58 – 82 cm.

As a gravure idol she has released 4 DVDs including last year’s Mattari まったりか and 2 photo books.  Rika was also one of the race queens picked to be part of idol singing group SUPER GTイメージガール Shiny.

Mini, Are you ready for Girls Spirit?

A 25 year old  Tokyo born Japanese fashion model and modeling agency president made her debut as a Jpop singer under the stage name “Mini” earlier this year.  Mini, is a reference to the skirts she wears that show off her long legs, which are said to be insured for 100 million yen.

Mini is 159 centimeters tall with 88-cm legs, often appears in fashion magazines such as JELLY and BLENDA. Two years ago, she founded a model management agency that currently represents about 20 models.

Janel and Peach John equals Jpop lingerie


A new all girl Jpop dance group along the lines of the Pussycat dolls emerged last year.  The group is called  JANEL とは (which stands for JAPAN NEEDS LADIES) and is comprised of  Grow, Azuni,  MARIE,  Naoca and YUKO.


Janel started out performing on the streets and parks in Tokyo and found their way to a record deal with  Rhythm Zone which is a affiliate of avex group.   The group also got a lot of publicity by teaming up with popular woman’s lingerie and apparel company PEACH JOHN with their single ‘Lovin” being used as a promotional song for the lingerie company.

PunColle is punk moe at its best

Puncolle Voice Actresses’ Legendary Punk Song Collection (パンコレ -voice actresses’ legendary punk songs collection) is so bad it’s so good!  This is what you get when you ask Japanese seiyuu (voice animation actresses) to sing classic punk sungs in “Engrish” in cutesy high pitch anime style.

Not your ordinary Jpop, the 2009 album produced by Avex Trax and sung by Momoi Halko , Ikezawa HarunaShimizu Kaori, Kadowaki Mai, Goto Yuuko and Tanaka Rie is hard to take it seriously, after all, it’s clear that taking it seriously was never the point. The album is a joke on every level of interpretation, an unrelenting parody from start to finish almost to the point of being honest tribute instead of parody.

Angelababy popular in Japan, fashion, commercials and new single Beauty Survivor

Angela Baby アンジェラベイビー (Angela Yeung Wing 杨颖, 楊穎 ) is a Chinese fashion model from Shanghai and Hong Kong who is making waves in Japan.  Like Jessica Cambensy, her sexy and cosmopolitan looks have earned her a modeling contract with Avex and she has since been operating from Japan over the few months.  Angelababy started modeling at the age of 17 when she was discovered in Hong Kong and been modeling for the past 7 years.

Honoka Asada Japanese gravure idol

Former Japanese  race queen and gravure idol Monami Ooguchi (aka Monami Koguchi) 小口もな美) changed her name to Honoka Asada (浅田ほのか) in 2008 when she changed agency. The busty G-cup 23 year old model was discovered as a 17 year old high school girl in Harajuku Tokyo.

Vanilla Mood’s first single Ajuka

Vanilla Mood バニラムード is a Jpop group with a difference. They are a 4 piece pop-classical instrumental unit comprising of Waka ワカ (27) flute, Mariko マリコ (25) cello, Yui ユイ (25) violin, and Keiko ケイコ (25) piano, which formed after university graduation in 2003. One of the original members Emilee (25) was replaced by Waka in 2005.

Cawaii model Hisayo Inamori’s debut single Girls Style

Hisayo Inamori 稲森寿世 is a 16 year old model for Japanese fashion magazine Cawaii!. Cawaii magazine is popular with Japanese girls aged 15-20 years old. Past models for the magazine include gravure idol and actress Azusa Yamamoto 山本梓, Jpop singer Rina Aiuchi 愛内里菜 and Ana Suzuki 鈴木杏奈.

Hisayo Inamori 稲森寿世

Hisayo Inamori hopes to be a successful model and singer and after she won the Nippon Broadcasting System’s “Dreamgirls Audition” last year she was awarded a recording contract with Avex’s rhythm zone label. She released her debut single last month called “GIRLS STYLE” with 2 versions of the music video, with the Shibuya girls video featuring Inamori in outfits from popular brands in Shibuya.
