Hello Kitty Stamps from Japan Post

Like all things Hello Kitty? Back in 2008, Japanpost issued some Hello Kitty stamps featuring Hello Kitty and her boyfriend Daniel wearing “The Tale of Genji” samurai and princess robes. The 6,090 yen self adhesive stamp sets included several plastic “netsuke,” or tiny figures of the couple.

Each of the 10 stamps in the sets were denominated JPY 50 (inland postcard rate) and JPY 80 (inland letter rate) respectively. Four of the JPY 80 stamps are round while one is oval. Both sheets also have the characters featuring on the selvedge.

Oh, they had Hello Kitty dressed up as dragon stickers for the New Year Cards as well.
I go to the post office very often and sometimes they really have interesting stamps. Personally I wouldn’t buy Hello Kitty stamps, though.
