Hawaii sumo champs Musashimaru, Konishiki and Akebono

Hawaii’s top three sumo wrestlers returned home for an two-day exhibition tournament in June 1993. There’s a saying  you can take the boy out of Hawaii, but you can’t take Hawaii out of the boy.  Here the big 3 fellas take a stroll on Waikiki beach

    Those guys brought some real competition to the Japanese sumo wrestlers and they brought some cool Hawaiian style to Japan

    Only Konishiki made it big after retirement as a media celeb. Akebono – could never figure out why he went to pro wrestling.
