Japanese pop rock band, The Brilliant Green will be releasing a new album titled “BLACKOUT” on September 15th. It’s been aeight years since their previous album release, “THE WINTER ALBUM,” back in 2002. The album will also include their recent singles such as “LIKE YESTERDAY,” “Blue Daisy,” and “I Just Can’t Breathe…”

The limited edition of the album will include a DVD with music videos and the making of video of three songs.

Like Shibuya gyaru gal fashion scene?  In the latest attempt to reproduce the success of  Jpop idol group AKB48 a new idol unit called Shibuya GAL’S is being formed.

The unit is being produced and led by the gal (gyaru) fashion model duo Yumachi & Aina  ゆまち ＆愛奈  which consists of Yuma Takahashi (21) and Aina Tanaka (21) both models for the fashion magazine Egg. After topping the Recochoku club music charts last year, they made their major label debut earlier this year and are releasing their debut album “QUEEN” this week.

They began holding auditions for Shibuya GAL’S last month, aiming to create a large-scale unit like AKB48. They received applications from 4,000 girls across the country from which they selected 22 girls  ranging in age from 14 to 20. Adding Yumachi and Aina themselves, the group has a total of 24 members.

Shibuya GAL’S will release their first digital single on August 4, titled “Ouenka! Agepoyo~.” In addition to their music, the group will be active as fashion models. Yumachi & Aina reportedly aim to expand the group to 48 members this fall.

Yumachi & Aina have started to appear in advertisements, most notably in commercials for the karaoke system DAM★Tomo. Along with other models they have formed a group called ‘DAM★Tomo Angels’. They’ve gradually begun to be featured in various other medias as well.　Yumachi & Aina appeared in the NHK program ‘東京カワイイTV / Tokyo Kawaii TV’ as trendsetters for girls frequenting Shibuya.

Not your ordinary Jpop, the 2009 album produced by Avex Trax and sung by Momoi Halko , Ikezawa Haruna,  Shimizu Kaori, Kadowaki Mai, Goto Yuuko and Tanaka Rie is hard to take it seriously, after all, it’s clear that taking it seriously was never the point. The album is a joke on every level of interpretation, an unrelenting parody from start to finish almost to the point of being honest tribute instead of parody.

Finger 5 フィンガー５ were Japan’s answer to the Jackson 5 and Partridge family in the early 1970s.  From Okinawa the Jpop group comprised of  Tamamoto brothers, Kazuo, Mitsuo, Masao, Akira, and sister Taeko.

With catchy pop  songs, matching outfits and choreographed dance routines,  the band was formed in 1967 with the three brothers Kazuo, Mitsuo and Masao, who performed as All Brothers.  In 1970, they signed with King Records as the Baby Brothers, but their three releases did not sell well.

In early 1972 younger siblings  Akira and Taeko were added to the group and they became Finger Five and scored a huge hit with the single “Kojin Jugyo (Private Lessons)” in 1973. “Kojin Jugyo” sold almost a million and a half copies, and follow-up singles  恋のダイヤル6700 – Love Call 6700 Koi no Dial 6700″ and “Gakuen Tengoku” were also major hits.

Finger 5 became big stars appearing on weekly TV show Ginza NOW and made the 4 movies  – Hello Finger Five, Chonoryoku Dayo! Zenin Shugo and Finger Five No Dai Boken in 1974.

In 1975 the group took a very long break from the showbiz scene which they never really recovered from and in 1978 they disbanded although some members have attempted comebacks, in 1980 as Fingers, 1985 as Zapp, in 1991 as Finger Five, in 1992 as Finger Five Soul Band, and in 1994 as AM Fingers.

Angela Baby アンジェラベイビー (Angela Yeung Wing 杨颖, 楊穎 ) is a Chinese fashion model from Shanghai and Hong Kong who is making waves in Japan.  Like Jessica Cambensy, her sexy and cosmopolitan looks have earned her a modeling contract with Avex and she has since been operating from Japan over the few months.  Angelababy started modeling at the age of 17 when she was discovered in Hong Kong and been modeling for the past 7 years.

In Japan since 2009, she has appeared on numerous Fashion magazines such as Sweet, Glamorous, S Cawaii, Nylon Japan, Frau, WWD Beauty, Common Sense, Zipper, Classy, VOCE, non-no, JJ Lumine Magazine, Elle girl etc.
