Those wacky otaku folks at Thanko have come up with an (ideal?) gift for your Japanese OL office lady girlfriend this Christmas – the USB Bust Beauty Pad USB バストビューティーパッド.  It’s actually designed to warm her breast under her bra during those cold winter days working at the computer.

The USB Bust Beauty Pad is powered by your pc and your girlfriend just slips the U-shaped pads under her bra which will warm to up to 40C. The pads are meant to last about six months, and the whole set-up costs about 1980 Yen.

More from the Hello Kitty product range.  This time from Japanese retailer Mouse Computer,  in Akihabara which has it’s new “demee” brand.  One of the new products is a small 16gm clip on Hello Kitty Music Player which started selling on September 19.

You can replace Hello Kitty’s trademark red ribbon with a flower that comes with the product, and her yellow nose lights up whenever you use the controls. You can also change  Hello Kitty into a pink “Bear Ears Kitty” or a black “Devil Ears Kitty” by putting on a silicone case (sold separately).

The player is priced at 5,980 yen and  can play music for up to 10 hours straight.

If you want to splash out more for your Japanese girlfriend, there’s even a 13,800 Yen Swarovski Cyrstal version.

Yukari is a product name for a type of furikake.

Furikake is a dried “seasoning” that is sprinkled on rice to add flavour to it. It is very popular in Japan and comes in endless varieties.

Yakari Furikake is made from red beefsteak plant, sugar, and salt. Beefsteak plant is known in Japanese as shiso, which many people outside of Japan are familiar with. Green shiso leaves can be used as a garnish with a variety of dishes.

Try getting some at your local supermarket or Asian grocery store. You’ll love it mixed with plain white rice. Yummy.

Japanese company March Development Corporation of Fukuoka has created an automated rocking baby crib for new parents who are tired of getting up every few hours to rock their baby back to sleep. The 420,000 Yen Suima 電動ベビーベッドsuima(スイマ)  which has the slogan”Happy Child Care Life”does the rocking for you.

The 946 × 619 × 885mm 60kg bed has a built-in sensor to detect specifically a baby’s cry and the bed automatically starts swaying left and right to a width of about10cm. At first the bed does quick-paced rocking, then slowly settles into the pace of the mother’s heartbeat and eventually, it rocks slower and slower to a more sleep-inducing pace. If all goes according to plan, the baby should be asleep again within 15 minutes.

The bed was made in collaboration with Kyushu University and is for babies aged 2 weeks to 10 months old.  If you’re in Japan, the bed can be purchased for 420,000 yen or rented for for 10,000 yen per month.

Japan is still a country of smokers but that is slowly changing.  There are a few options to help people quit and Japanese company Sosu Company 素数 has one.

The company has created a healthy nicotine less cigarette called Mismo ミスモ. The Nicolestyle ニコレスタイル (short for Nicotine-less Style) cigarette looks like a cigarette and is “smoked” like a cigarette but instead of filling your lungs with poison, when inhaled, it emits grapefruit or mint flavored steam (water vapor) in your mouth while the tip glows by way of a small battery powered LED light.

The Nicolestyle Mismo cigarette comes with the cigarette, recharger and a flavor cartridge and retails for about ¥12,600 and new flavor cartridges retail for ¥1050.  Each of the flavor cartridge will last for 300 inhales.

Japan is a nation or recyclers and one of neat products available from Tohoku Kankyo is a rubbish to compost converter.  Created for home use the TKP-020 “Sam-kun, サム”  shaped like a robot dog, will take your pet poop and leftover foods and turn it into eco friendly compost using a special bio substance that breaks down rubbish and takes away odors.

They 14kg, $900 converter can  process about 600 grams of poop/food each day and require bio refills every 4 months or so.

Japanese robotics company Robo Engine announced its new little programmable robot called Pyuuun ピューン it “LifeLog Robot” which is small enough to fit into the palm of your hand.

The  130mm × D150mm × H190mm 1kg robot has eight different sensors  an impact sensor to detect obstacles, an illumination sensor to measure a room’s brightness, a sound sensor to measure noise levels, a distance sensor to measure distances to obstacles, a temperature sensor, an  acceleration sensor to measure the incline of a surface, a pyroelectric sensor to detect the presence of moving things and an infrared sensor to detect other machines.

With all these sensors, the Pyunn can monitor conditions in a room and can be programmed using Visual C# and VBA in Windows 2000/XP to action if any specified condition change such as send email if a person is detected inside a room or blog if an earthquake strikes (which is fairly regular in Japan) or if the person next door is playing his stereo way too loud.

If you’re in Japan and you see some salaryman or otaku blowing into his iPhone, good chance that guy has a newly released iPhone application called PUFF!、ぱふパフ！！by BottleCube Inc. Japanese company Shiken KK 社名　株式会社シケン in Osaka is run by Dr. Yoshinori Nakagawa who created the world’s first solar powered ionic toothbrush “Soladey” ソラデー that doesn’t need any toothpaste.

The toothbrush easily removes plaque and cleans teeth by a simple electron reaction. When light is absorbed by the embedded solar panel, and you begin to brush your teeth, electrons are transmitted through the water to your teeth via the titanium oxide semiconductor. This reaction is not felt by you, but it makes the plaque unstable and easy to remove.

Soladey originates from the words ‘Solar’ and ‘Dental’ and was was first manufactured in the early 1980s and this light activated toothbrush is now used daily by millions of people in Japan.  This rod is the secret to Soladey.
