Hi Chew is a popular Japanese candy and the Hi Chew King ハイチュウキング is the Hi Chew character mascot.  Here is an entertaining TV commercial with the HiChew King.

Japanese company Yakult ヤクルト is well known in Japan and Asia for its probiotic milk-like product made by fermenting a mixture of skimmed milk with a special strain of the bacterium Lactobacillus casei Shirota.

Yakult was created in 1935 by Minoru Shirota a graduate of the Medical School of Kyoto University in 1930. After its introduction in Japan and Taiwan, Yakult was first sold in Brazil in 1966, due to the large number of Japanese immigrants in the country, and today is sold in 31 countries around the world.

A few years ago, Häagen-Dazs  Japan introduced a new limited edition flavor Honey Milk.  The new honey+milk flavor was promoted on Japanese TV using this commercial in which a gaijin actors say  “love-love. ”

We’ve mentioned before that Coca Cola Japan is one of the biggest TV advertisers in Japan.  This was also true back in the 1960s.  Check out these classic Coca Cola Japan tv commercials in black and white.  Color TV commercials were introduced in 1968.

Back in the mid 1970′s even the legendary pop duo The Carpenters did TV commercials in Japan.  They appeared in 2 ads for Suntory’s Pop (soft drink) and on TV commercial for Morinaga’s Hi-Crown chocolate
