Only in Japan could you ever make “Unko-san” うんこさん-ツイてる人にしか見えない妖精 a 2009 anime series about a brown turd character called a “poo fairy” . Thirteen short episodes of the anime were shown in the Osaka area on Kansai TV’s “Otoemon” 音エモン music program between July 19, 2009 – April 26, 2009. The original concept was created by MAD Barbarians and the series and title song うんとこサンバ were very popular among Japanese schoolgirls in western Japan.

Tiny Toons Adventures タイニートゥーンズ was an American animated cartoon that was shown in Japan from 1990 – 1995. Some of the Tiny Toon characters were used in Japanese TV commercials to promote products from Hitachi.

Train and anime okaku will be excited to learn that there is a Doraemon train service running in Japan. The newest one is the special Odakyu F-Train‘, which began service last summer running along the Odakyu line and was specially made to attract visitors to the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum in Kawasaki.


The ‘F-Train‘ has 10 cars each with their own Doraemon designs on the exterior and as well as on the interior with Doraemon themed warning stickers, posters and holding straps.

Culture Japan is a one hour TV program from Japanese otaku expert Danny Choo which brings Japanese pop and otaku culture to the world.

The show is broadcast on Tokyo MX and Animax Asia. The first episode was aired last year and included seiyuu Sato Satomi, Fujisawa High School K-ON activities, Good Smile Company tour, hot Filipino cosplayer Alodia and more!

Star Wars fans will be interested to know that there is a Japanese manga version of the popular story and movie series. Illustrated by various manga arties including Hisao Tamaki, Shinichi Hiromoto, Kia Asamiya and Toshiki Kudo and published by Tokyopop and Dark Horse Comics in 1998 this Star Wars storytellling takes on a distinctly Japanese flavor.


Only the first Star Wars films were adapted to manga comics. There are currently no manga adaptations of Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the Sith.
