In Japan, no Japanese race circuit is complete without a a bevy of beautiful young Japanese race queens, those long legged models who wear the sexy costumes of their team and sponsors.  Like import models or pit girls in other countries,  Japanese race queens attract a lot of attention with a devoted fan club of otaku photographers who happily  snap photographs of their idols.

In Japan, being a campaign girl or race queen is often a quick path to fame as a gravure idol, model, actress, singer or TV personality. Click here to see all the race queens featured in Japansugoi.

Juemilia Videos

Juemilia
Juemilia was a short-lived Jpop duo consisting of models Suzuki Emi and Oki Julia. They got their group name by mixing their first names. Although the duo were signed to Universal Music Japan and Stardust Music Promotions they only released two singles. Their second and final single, ALL THE THINGS SHE SAID was a cover of t.A.T.u’s song of the same title and gained the two most of their attention.

Currently, Oki Julia has left the spotlight while Emi Suzuki has become Shueisha’s most favored signboard fashion model. The duo is assumedly disbanded, although there has been no official announcement.

Super Gachapin!

Gachapin on the computerIf you’ve lived in Japan long enough, you will know Gachapin, the loveable green character from children’s television. Gachapin (along with his red buddy Mukku) is everywhere (billboards, commercials, cartoons, toys, t-shirts, mobile phone straps etc.)
If you’ve watched the TV shows, you’ll know Gacaphin can do just about anyting from martial arts, rock climbing and extreme sports. Definitely a character that teaches young kids, “be strong and brave, you can do it!”

I’d hate to be the guys in the costumes, must be hot and potentially very dangerous doing all those sports and stunts. Take a look at the videos and see for yourself.  More Gachapin here.

Anpanman Video

Ampanman
Anpanman is a long running and popular Japanese young children’s cartoon anime written by Takashi Yanase. The television series called Soreike! Anpanman (それいけ!アンパンマン, Go! Anpanman) is produced by NTV. The anime is also popular in South Korea where the cartoon is known as “Narara Hoppangmaen” ( 날아라 호빵맨).

The series revolves around central characther Ampaman who was created when the Star of Life fell down the chimney of a bakery causing the dough in the oven to come to life. The dough becomes Anpanman, a superhero made of anpan (a sweet roll with bean jam filling). Together with his friends, Anpanman fights his rival Baikinman and helps the malnourished. This is really a great cartoon for the young children.

Framey!

Framey is part of the Pitagora Suicchi NHK children’s show which also shows the highly popular Algorithm March.

However, I think Framey is just as innovative. The main character in Framey is a transparent dog comprised of a square frame. The other characters are comprised of simple figures as well but aren’t transparent. Nice animation.

Funniest Japanese TV Prank

Japanese Television (and Commercials) always fascinate and surpise foreign viewers in their creativity and humour. There used to be a show in which viewers wrote in about their vision of the best possible practical joke or prank. If the TV show liked the idea, they would go ahead and set up the prank.

Japan Sugoi Videos

The following clip shows the elaborate and hilarious prank involving building a rest/massage chair room next to a hot bath area at a ski resort. Its so funny – Enjoy!
